But every month we face a chaos to start Islamic month on the basis of actual sighting. Someone likes to follow blindly Saudi Arabia whereas someone believes in local sighting.
In Hadis Shareef, Saiyeedul Mursaleen Imamul Mursaleen Khwatamun Nabiyeen, Noor-i-Mujassam, Habibullah Huzur-i-Pak Sallallahu 'alaihi wa Sallam ordered, “Start fasting at the sight of the crescent and also discontinue after sighting the next, but if the sky remains cloudy obscuring the moon then complete the number of thirty.” (Bukhari Shareef).
And Allah Pak declared “Of course Nasi or shifting month forward or backward, increases the Kufri” (Surah Tauba) that means shifting forward or backward is extreme Kufri and Haraam, which is now practiced by many governments as well as Saudi Arab.

- Find a westerly facing spot with a clear view of the horizon.
- Wait for the sun to set, and then look for the crescent.
- Use only your bare eyes. Don’t use binocular and telescope. (If you want to locate the crescent then it is allowed but make sure you see the crescent by the bare eyes.)
- Make sure you see the crescent, not any cloud or vapor trail.
- Make a note, where you were, the date and time of your observation, the weather condition and how many people were with you.
